COMBAT PAPER

Hey everyone. This past weekend we were lucky enough to play in a small town outside of Ithaca, New York. A good friend of ours, Nathan Lewis asked us to play a show in a new house he lives in with his veteran friends. Nate is an Iraq war veteran and he and his friends are setting up a veterans sanctuary there. We ate delicious food and had a wonderful show in a great spot. The next day we were brought to the sanctuary's green-houses. Thanks to a former Tilapia farmer who was generous to let them use the land for free, they have access to a lot suitable for farming, equipped with tools and two large green-houses. The sky is the limit for these fella's and they plan to do some great things with this opportunity. We had team of about 12 or so dig a 40 ft long trench along the fence of the future garden.... man-power is great. It was an exciting weekend, it is obvious that great things will come from this project. Nate is very involved in Combat Paper. "The Combat Paper Project utilizes artmaking workshops to assist veterans in reconciling and sharing their personal experiences as well as broadening the traditional narrative surrounding service and the military culture." Check it out here: http://www.combatpaper.org/ . Other than the toilet exploding and pouring into the basement the night couldn't have gone better. Keep an eye on these guys. Thanks to them for a great weekend. On the way home Dan and I saw a large deer resting on the back-hood of a car, unstrapped, on the highway.... just to cap off the trip. CHEERS!

Autumn.

So, it's been a while... A real long while. I've been playing with steel, that's what takes up most of my time. What's new you say? A few shows between then and now. We played at the Monkey House in Winooski, Vt with the Choking Beaver Project. Played a fundraiser/kegger at 10 Bay st. as a benefit to some kids whose house burned down. (great turnout) Slacking in the music world lately. Should be recording, getting tour for the summer figured out, and all that jazz. The leaves are changing, I always forget just how amazing that is. Tour photos up on facebook.. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=286371&id=558189464 .. Still working on that journal write up. Workin on Livin'

Party In The U.S.A

More stuff from tour. OF THE is a sweet zine that some friends put together for the underground arts and music scene in and around the city. They're sweet folks, who are doing good things for the arts, and are always willing to help us out. (They got us the show at Tommy's Tavern in Brooklyn) http://www.myspace.com/oftheofthe . Check them out for sure! Here is a sweet short that a friend of theirs put together from the Tommy's show. Enjoy. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=429925673584
